1978 Château Mouton Rothschild, a prestigious red wine from the Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux, France. This vintage is notable for its unique artist-designed label and its status as a "First Growth" (Premier Grand Cru Classé) estate.

Since 1945, Château Mouton Rothschild has commissioned a different artist each year to create the artwork for its labels. The 1978 vintage features two different labels, both created by the Canadian artist Jean-Paul Riopelle (1923–2002). The bottle in your image displays one of these two abstract designs

It is described as a medium-bodied, elegant wine with mature notes of cedar, coffee, red fruits, and tobacco. Reviewers generally consider it to be at peak maturity now.

The 1978 vintage has received scores such as 92/100 from Wine Spectator and 85/100 from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.

Composition: The wine is primarily a Bordeaux blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, which provides rich tannins and aging potential, blended with smaller amounts of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
